2020 – a year we all fear. It's true the previous year has been harsh on us, losing jobs, people, opportunities, and what not. We have been through a lot. But as the saying goes "the brighter the sun shines, the darker the shadows will be", so while we focusing on the dark pitch of shadows, we should never forget about how much light the sun showered on us. The hard times made us strong. The storm not only left us with corps but lessons that’ll save generations. So here I’m sharing our biggest takeaways from 2020.
Lessons we learned -
1. Importance of international organizations – UNO (united nations organization) was made in 1945 and has been playing a vital role in world geopolitics ever since to make sure that peace and opportunities are served to all. But in 2020 its importance increased by ten folds, we needed an organization, a force that could bind us all. WHO (world health organization, UNO’s sub-branch) provided us with all the necessary precautions, methods to tackle the virus, and a better insight into the situation around the globe. It was the organization the world looked up to and believed in.
2. An insight into the world facing pandemic – the word Pandemic, all of us learned about in our school days and a lot of us didn’t even bother to know it. But 2020 enlightened us on the same, a pandemic, vaccines, their types, process to make a one and what not we read it all, experienced it all, lived it all.

3. Self-discovery – pandemic gave us time to spend on ourselves, new hobbies were made, a routine was created, opinions were formed and we could think and rethink about the choices we made or were going to make, and we found something new ourselves that we wouldn’t have been, if not for this pandemic.
4. Life at home - the world was at a standstill; we were locked in homes. But the experience added to our phenomenal ventures of life. We lived on our own, did everything on our own. Found new capabilities that were buried deep down somewhere in our souls. we were depended on our house workers.

5. United we stand, divided we can’t – when we all were falling apart - economies crashing, racial abuse, people losing their jobs, the everyday struggle just for a single meal, the daily wage worker fighting for their lives, the world has seen it all and we stood by each other. People donated whatever they could to sustain their economy, the entire world stood tall against racial abuse, a lot of business owners took care of their worker, people provided food on their level to those who were hungry. We did it together, Some saved and saved by, we survived as a race.
6. Light on hygiene – we understood the importance of hygiene. Sanitizing and wearing masks were important lifesaving practices. people got a better insight into the same.
7. Carpe diem/ seize the day – 2020 was the year that taught us that nothing is permanent, so enjoy and live it while it lasts. Loved ones were lost in between, hearts were broken but the lesson was also learned that whatever you are seeking do not achieve it by paying with your present. Love your loved ones today, appreciate them today, correct them today because the one day you are looking up to may not make it some day.
8. Importance of health – the coronavirus planted a stark fear of being ill in all of our heads. People tried to avoid the virus on their level. They started taking extra care of their health by eating healthy food, morning exercises, yoga, and whatever home remedies they once learned from their ancestors to stay healthy, they tried and tested them out.
9. Consuming only in need – the world was shut because of the virus, the production of goods was slow, also we could not go for shopping whenever we wanted. This made us save all the materialistic things we used blindly up till now and use them only in need.

10. Importance of OTT platforms – OTT platforms were our big timesavers. If not for OTT platforms we would have been bored to death, they helped us keep our sanity in this wicked time. We were introduced to a lot of masterpieces and many hidden gems of cinematic world.
As the saying goes "we should let a good crisis go to waste". we must learn from what we have been through, make sure not to repeat mistakes, and remember how we fought and made it here.
